Scorekeepers were kept busy today during a high-scoring contest between Anahuac Lady Panthers Varsity and East Chambers where Anahuac Lady Panthers Varsity prevailed 15-9.
Anahuac Lady Panthers Varsity secured the victory thanks to nine runs in the sixth inning. The offensive firepower by Anahuac Lady Panthers Varsity was led by Isabella Hornsby, Angela Rodriguez, Bree’Anna Anderson, Kate Hankamer, Mailey Sherman, and Ysabeth Chavez, who each had RBIs in the inning.
In the second inning, Anahuac Lady Panthers Varsity got their offense started. Anahuac Lady Panthers Varsity scored one run when Anderson doubled.
Anahuac Lady Panthers Varsity put up nine runs in the sixth inning. The offensive onslaught came from a walk by Anderson, a triple by Hankamer, a single by Chavez, a groundout by Sherman, an error on a ball put in play by Hornsby, and a double by Rodriguez.
East Chambers scored four runs in the sixth inning. East Chambers offense in the inning was led by H Collier, L Smith, and T Foreman, all driving in runs in the inning.
Lauralei Culp was the winning pitcher for Anahuac Lady Panthers Varsity. She went five innings, allowing eight runs on seven hits and striking out two. Sherman threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.
M Leleaux took the loss for East Chambers. She allowed eight hits and ten runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out three.
M Valka started the game for East Chambers. She went two and a third innings, allowing five runs on six hits and striking out one
Anahuac Lady Panthers Varsity tallied 14 hits on the day. Rodriguez, Anderson, and Erin Willcox each managed multiple hits for Anahuac Lady Panthers Varsity. Rodriguez led Anahuac Lady Panthers Varsity with four hits in five at bats.
East Chambers tallied ten hits. B Leblaux, Collier, and K Barron each had multiple hits for East Chambers. Leblaux went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead East Chambers in hits.
